CO2 Monitors

An Aranet4 Home Indoor Air Quality Monitor sits on a shelf. It shows a ‘safe’ reading of 775 ppm, as well as temperature and relative humidity readings.

Have you heard? Starting this month, you’ll be able to borrow a carbon dioxide (CO2) monitor from any of Nova Scotia’s nine public library regions.

What is a CO2 monitor?

CO2 monitors allow individuals to keep an eye on air quality. High readings may indicate that the ventilation around the monitor is not sufficient and that steps are needed to improve the air quality.

NOTE: The CO2 monitors are not carbon monoxide detectors and are not life safety devices.

How do I borrow a CO2 monitor?

To borrow one of the portable battery-powered CO2 monitors, check your library catalogue:

Halifax Public Libraries: https://www.halifaxpubliclibraries.ca/catalogue/

Libraries outside of Halifax: https://library.novascotia.ca/map

Where can I learn more about CO2 monitoring and how to use the monitors for screening purposes?

The CO2 monitors are intended for home and personal use and are not intended to replace professional air quality monitoring.
