Program Descriptions
Sail the Sour Seas? science show (Age: 5+)
Fire, acid, and shellfish. No, it’s not a Maritime seafood recipe. In this engaging live science show we will connect how humans’ CO2 emissions are causing our oceans to become more acidic and explore the impact this will have on shellfish populations and all of us who depend on them.
Rethink, Repair, Reimagine drop-in session (Age: 5+)
They say, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it!'. But, what if it is broken? How can we rethink what we buy, repair what we have, and reimagine what things could be? Join the Discovery Centre’s #GenAction team to get hands-on and be empowered with new skills! Together, we'll explore the materials that we buy, use, fix, lose, donate, find, and throw away.
Creative Sustainability workshop (Age: 8+)
Many Nova Scotian communities were built around coal or cars. As we transition to renewable energy and try to build sustainable lifestyles, how will you shape your community? Join the Discovery Centre’s #GenAction team to get real and dream big. Learn how to wire up some solar circuits and let your imagination soar designing your sustainable community – the blue sky’s the limit!
